A well pressure switch is an essential component of a well water system. It’s responsible for monitoring the pressure within the water tank and controlling the operation of the well pump. In other words, a well pressure switch maintains the desired water pressure in your home’s plumbing system by controlling when the pump tus on and off.
For safety, the first step is to ensure the power supply to the well pump is tued off. You can do this by either switching off the circuit breaker or disconnecting the pump from its power source.
It was a late Saturday night. We had a super stubborn clog in some old galvanized pipes. Mr. Rooter send out Phil. Phil was great! He found the problem pretty quick. With determination and professionalism he final got it cleared out. I would recommend Mr. Rooter and Phil to anyone! He even cleaned up. We are so happy we choose Mr. Rooter!
We had a plumbing emergency and found Mr. Rooter while frantically searching for a 24-hour plumber. We feel like we hit a gold mine. Not only did we get a timely response. Everyone at Mr. Rooter was friendly, professional, competent and went above and beyond. Our plumber, Phil, was extremely helpful and gave us tips we could use moving firwars. Not to mention, the cost was extremely reasonable.
Had sewer water backup in toilet and tub. Received callback as promised and arrived early. The tech determined we needed the main line to be cleared. He quickly located the opening and had us cleared in minutes. Very happy with the service. I was not prepared for the fee but it was an emergency.
Plumber, Phil, came out on short notice on a Saturday night and fixed our issue quickly, professionally and courteously. I contacted a different, well known plumbing company right before Mr. Rooter. The receptionist was rude and they didn’t call me back to say they couldn’t make it until after Phil left! The Mr. Rooter receptionist was very nice and they called me back quickly. I’m glad they did.
I just wanted to say James did a great job at my house. Excellent service, professional and very nice. Thank you so much for helping me with my plumbing problem. Did wonderful job.
I was very happy that I went with Mr. Rooter’s. The service was very quick and up front. Jessie James was very helpful answering my questions and replacing my hot water heater. He was pleasurable to do business with. If another problem arises in my home, I will be using this company again.
A thorough, professional, pleasant experience. I had a back-up in the 50 year-old pipes of my new home. I called Mr. Rooter to have them locate the blockage, snake the line, and then use their video snake to get a visual of the integrity of the pipes. I’m glad that I called and will use them again for future needs.
You get what you pay for. Edwin Robles of Central NJ educated me as a 1st time homebuyer on why and what he was repairing, prevention, PROMPT,(on a sunday at that!) clean, knowledgeable, super professional but DOWN TO EARTH and at a REASONABLE PRICE! Sewer pipes unclogged and main water line fixed. I was no longer crying once job was thoroughly executed. After all $#@* $tinks but somebody has to do it and I HIGHLY recommend him and this company for a job well done. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Absolutely lovely office staff! I always knew when the repair person was coming. Lorenzo our repair guy was awesome, I really don't think there is anything he can't do. He looks young, but don't let that fool you! So happy all the repairs are behind us. We really just did a one-stop shopping and decided to have everything we've put off fixed because it was such a tremendous experience!
Just like the other parts of your well water system, the well pressure switch can malfunction for a number of reasons, including normal wear and tear, electrical problems, and more. A failing well pressure switch can lead to various issues, such as inconsistent water pressure, no water supply, energy inefficiency, frequent pump cycling, and many more. If you have a well water system in your home, it’s important to know how to test the well pressure switch and perform simple troubleshooting steps to ensure the switch continues to operate smoothly. In this guide, Mr. Rooter Plumbing outlines the basic steps to help you test and troubleshoot your well pressure switch.
Inspect the pressure switch for any pressure adjustment settings. If present, make sure they are correctly set according to your system's requirements.
Attach a pressure gauge to a faucet or hose bib to measure the current water pressure in the tank. Compare this reading to your system's cut-in and cut-out pressure settings.
If you suspect an issue with the switch, you can manually test it. Gently tu the adjustment nut on the pressure switch counterclockwise. The pressure should drop below the cut-in setting, causing the pump to start. Then, tu the nut clockwise to raise the pressure above the cut-out setting, which should stop the pump.
While manually testing, pay close attention to how the pressure switch responds. If it fails to start or stop the pump at the correct pressure, it might be malfunctioning.
If you're not comfortable with this process or if the switch isn't behaving as expected, it's time to call in a nearby plumber. They'll ensure your well pressure switch is working correctly, which is essential for a reliable water supply.
To prevent pressure switch malfunctions, it's important to conduct regular maintenance, keep the switch and its housing dry, and address any issues promptly. Regular inspections and professional servicing can help identify and resolve problems before they lead to a complete malfunction.
Have you noticed fluctuations in water pressure? Is your well pump cycling on and off more frequently than usual? Does the switch produce loud clicking or thumping sounds each time it tus the pump on or off? These are signs that you need to reach out to a professional plumbing service to inspect your well pressure switch and resolve the issues. Here at Mr. Rooter Plumbing, we can help you repair or replace a failing well pressure switch. Our affordable plumbers have the expertise and experience to fix all kinds of well pressure switch issues.
