It’s normal to hear a soft, rushing sound when you open a faucet. However, loud noises coming from your plumbing are a cause for alarm. Left unaddressed, these noises can escalate into more serious and expensive problems. Below, Mr. Rooter Plumbing explains some of the common household plumbing noises, what they mean, and how to address them.
It was a late Saturday night. We had a super stubborn clog in some old galvanized pipes. Mr. Rooter send out Phil. Phil was great! He found the problem pretty quick. With determination and professionalism he final got it cleared out. I would recommend Mr. Rooter and Phil to anyone! He even cleaned up. We are so happy we choose Mr. Rooter!
We had a plumbing emergency and found Mr. Rooter while frantically searching for a 24-hour plumber. We feel like we hit a gold mine. Not only did we get a timely response. Everyone at Mr. Rooter was friendly, professional, competent and went above and beyond. Our plumber, Phil, was extremely helpful and gave us tips we could use moving firwars. Not to mention, the cost was extremely reasonable.
Had sewer water backup in toilet and tub. Received callback as promised and arrived early. The tech determined we needed the main line to be cleared. He quickly located the opening and had us cleared in minutes. Very happy with the service. I was not prepared for the fee but it was an emergency.
Plumber, Phil, came out on short notice on a Saturday night and fixed our issue quickly, professionally and courteously. I contacted a different, well known plumbing company right before Mr. Rooter. The receptionist was rude and they didn’t call me back to say they couldn’t make it until after Phil left! The Mr. Rooter receptionist was very nice and they called me back quickly. I’m glad they did.
I just wanted to say James did a great job at my house. Excellent service, professional and very nice. Thank you so much for helping me with my plumbing problem. Did wonderful job.
I was very happy that I went with Mr. Rooter’s. The service was very quick and up front. Jessie James was very helpful answering my questions and replacing my hot water heater. He was pleasurable to do business with. If another problem arises in my home, I will be using this company again.
A thorough, professional, pleasant experience. I had a back-up in the 50 year-old pipes of my new home. I called Mr. Rooter to have them locate the blockage, snake the line, and then use their video snake to get a visual of the integrity of the pipes. I’m glad that I called and will use them again for future needs.
You get what you pay for. Edwin Robles of Central NJ educated me as a 1st time homebuyer on why and what he was repairing, prevention, PROMPT,(on a sunday at that!) clean, knowledgeable, super professional but DOWN TO EARTH and at a REASONABLE PRICE! Sewer pipes unclogged and main water line fixed. I was no longer crying once job was thoroughly executed. After all $#@* $tinks but somebody has to do it and I HIGHLY recommend him and this company for a job well done. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Absolutely lovely office staff! I always knew when the repair person was coming. Lorenzo our repair guy was awesome, I really don't think there is anything he can't do. He looks young, but don't let that fool you! So happy all the repairs are behind us. We really just did a one-stop shopping and decided to have everything we've put off fixed because it was such a tremendous experience!
If your water pipes are making knocking or banging sounds, you likely have loose pipes or a water hammer. Your pipes can become loose as a result of poor installation, excessively high water pressure, soil shifting, and normal wear and tear. Loose pipes should never be ignored, as they can result in water leaks and structural damage. Call an experienced plumber specializing in pipe repair to inspect your piping and provide an effective solution.
A water hammer occurs when moving water comes to a sudden stop. If you hear loud, banging noises when you tu off a faucet or valve quickly, you’ll know you’re having a water hammer. Before anything else, measure the water pressure to ensure it’s between 30 and 80 pounds per square inch (psi). Next, open a faucet at the highest point in your home while the water supply is tued off. If these steps do not address the problem, call a skilled plumber in New Jersey to fix the water hammer.
High-pitched squealing in a water heater is often a sign of a mechanical issue. This noise can be caused by several factors, including loose components, sediment buildup, or electrical problems. Addressing a high-pitched squealing in a water heater typically requires professional assistance, as it could indicate a more serious problem that could lead to a breakdown or water damage. A plumber can diagnose the exact cause of the noise and recommend the appropriate solution, which may include replacing the pump or motor, tightening loose components, flushing the heater, or repairing electrical issues.
You’ve probably heard your drains gurgle before, especially when you run water down the drain. While most homeowners think it’s not a big deal, it actually indicates a problem that needs to be addressed. Gurgling sounds are a common sign of a clogged drain that’s restricting water flow. Thankfully, clearing a clogged drain is a fairly simple process that takes just a few minutes. Grab a plunger and plunge the drain forcefully for several minutes. If a plunger doesn’t work, try a drain snake. Insert the snake into the drain opening and rotate it clockwise to dislodge the clog. If you’re unable to get rid of the clog, get in touch with a trusted plumbing service for help.
Another common cause of gurgling sounds is air trapped in the pipes. Air can make it into your water pipes through broken parts in your plumbing system or faulty vents. While air in water pipes may not damage your plumbing, it can cause spluttering faucets, reduced water pressure, and loud noises coming from the water lines. You can remove air from your water pipes by tuing off your main water supply valve and then opening all the faucets in your home to allow the air to escape. If the problem persists, call a professional plumbing repair service to perform an inspection and make the necessary repairs.
