Clogged Water Line

You have heard of clogged drains, but did you know that the water line can clog as well? "Hard water," or water with high mineral composition, can deposit minerals in the pipes. Over time, the minerals will build up and cause a blockage. A water softener can help eliminate most of these minerals in the water supply. This installation can improve the quality of your water, prevent clogging, and reduce the risk of low water pressure.

Had sewer water backup in toilet and tub. Received callback as promised and arrived early. The tech determined we needed the main line to be cleared. He quickly located the opening and had us cleared in minutes. Very happy with the service. I was not prepared for the fee but it was an emergency.

Plumber, Phil, came out on short notice on a Saturday night and fixed our issue quickly, professionally and courteously. I contacted a different, well known plumbing company right before Mr. Rooter. The receptionist was rude and they didn’t call me back to say they couldn’t make it until after Phil left! The Mr. Rooter receptionist was very nice and they called me back quickly. I’m glad they did.

A thorough, professional, pleasant experience. I had a back-up in the 50 year-old pipes of my new home. I called Mr. Rooter to have them locate the blockage, snake the line, and then use their video snake to get a visual of the integrity of the pipes. I’m glad that I called and will use them again for future needs.

You get what you pay for. Edwin Robles of Central NJ educated me as a 1st time homebuyer on why and what he was repairing, prevention, PROMPT,(on a sunday at that!) clean, knowledgeable, super professional but DOWN TO EARTH and at a REASONABLE PRICE! Sewer pipes unclogged and main water line fixed. I was no longer crying once job was thoroughly executed. After all $#@* $tinks but somebody has to do it and I HIGHLY recommend him and this company for a job well done. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

Absolutely lovely office staff! I always knew when the repair person was coming. Lorenzo our repair guy was awesome, I really don't think there is anything he can't do. He looks young, but don't let that fool you! So happy all the repairs are behind us. We really just did a one-stop shopping and decided to have everything we've put off fixed because it was such a tremendous experience!

Can a Bad Water Heater Cause Water Pressure Loss?

Sediment Buildup in the Water Heater Tank

The minerals we mentioned earlier do not only affect the water lines. Mineral buildup can also happen inside the water heater tank. Draining the tank once or twice a year will help prevent this buildup. Severe cases can lead to scaling in the water heater. These will be much harder to remove, so make sure to flush your water tank once or twice a year. Scaling can make the water heater work harder and cause overheating. It can also lower water pressure.

Kinks in the Water Conduit

If you want to enjoy robust water pressure, then the diameter of the pipes is crucial. There’s not going to be much water coming through a pipe with a 1-inch diameter. Similarly, kinks in the conduits, hoses, or pipes will restrict the water pressure. Inspect your water heater and make sure the pipes and hoses are not leaking, kinked, or loose. Replace wo or damaged parts as soon as possible.

It might also be that the pipes are too small for your water demands. You can have a trained plumber inspect your water heater and pipes to confirm. Mr. Rooter Plumbing of New Jersey is happy to help.

Check the Shutoff Valve

There might be nothing wrong with the water heater after all. If the water pressure is low for both the cold water AND the hot water, then the issue might be with the water supply. Before you call the utility company, make sure the shutoff valve is fully open. Sometimes, it can be partially closed, which will limit the water pressure.
