If you ever tu off a tap and hear a sudden bang echo through your walls, then you’re listening to a water hammer – a phenomenon where the water flowing through the pipes abruptly stops when a valve closes and creates a shockwave. This shockwave can cause pipes to rattle and bang much like a hammer striking metal.
It was a late Saturday night. We had a super stubborn clog in some old galvanized pipes. Mr. Rooter send out Phil. Phil was great! He found the problem pretty quick. With determination and professionalism he final got it cleared out. I would recommend Mr. Rooter and Phil to anyone! He even cleaned up. We are so happy we choose Mr. Rooter!
We had a plumbing emergency and found Mr. Rooter while frantically searching for a 24-hour plumber. We feel like we hit a gold mine. Not only did we get a timely response. Everyone at Mr. Rooter was friendly, professional, competent and went above and beyond. Our plumber, Phil, was extremely helpful and gave us tips we could use moving firwars. Not to mention, the cost was extremely reasonable.
Had sewer water backup in toilet and tub. Received callback as promised and arrived early. The tech determined we needed the main line to be cleared. He quickly located the opening and had us cleared in minutes. Very happy with the service. I was not prepared for the fee but it was an emergency.
Plumber, Phil, came out on short notice on a Saturday night and fixed our issue quickly, professionally and courteously. I contacted a different, well known plumbing company right before Mr. Rooter. The receptionist was rude and they didn’t call me back to say they couldn’t make it until after Phil left! The Mr. Rooter receptionist was very nice and they called me back quickly. I’m glad they did.
I just wanted to say James did a great job at my house. Excellent service, professional and very nice. Thank you so much for helping me with my plumbing problem. Did wonderful job.
I was very happy that I went with Mr. Rooter’s. The service was very quick and up front. Jessie James was very helpful answering my questions and replacing my hot water heater. He was pleasurable to do business with. If another problem arises in my home, I will be using this company again.
A thorough, professional, pleasant experience. I had a back-up in the 50 year-old pipes of my new home. I called Mr. Rooter to have them locate the blockage, snake the line, and then use their video snake to get a visual of the integrity of the pipes. I’m glad that I called and will use them again for future needs.
You get what you pay for. Edwin Robles of Central NJ educated me as a 1st time homebuyer on why and what he was repairing, prevention, PROMPT,(on a sunday at that!) clean, knowledgeable, super professional but DOWN TO EARTH and at a REASONABLE PRICE! Sewer pipes unclogged and main water line fixed. I was no longer crying once job was thoroughly executed. After all $#@* $tinks but somebody has to do it and I HIGHLY recommend him and this company for a job well done. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Absolutely lovely office staff! I always knew when the repair person was coming. Lorenzo our repair guy was awesome, I really don't think there is anything he can't do. He looks young, but don't let that fool you! So happy all the repairs are behind us. We really just did a one-stop shopping and decided to have everything we've put off fixed because it was such a tremendous experience!
Plumbing pipes are buried in the walls, ceilings, and floorboards but they can certainly draw attention to themselves. There are some unique noises that pipes will make as a cry for help, and every property owner should be familiar with these sounds.
In this brief article brought to you Mr. Rooter Plumbing, we highlight four common causes of conceing plumbing noises and what they mean for your home. If you’re ever in doubt, you can call Mr. Rooter Plumbing to hire a uniformed and trained plumber in Jackson Township, NJ ASAP.
The water hammer isn’t just a nuisance; it can put undue stress on your entire plumbing system. Over time, these repeated shocks might weaken pipe joints or even lead to leaks. The solution? Often, a professional plumber will install water hammer arrestors. These devices that act like shock absorbers to cushion the blow of the moving water.
While pipes are hidden behind walls and under floorboards, they’re not immune to the effects of wear and tear. Over time, the fasteners that hold your pipes in place can loosen. When water flows through these loosely secured pipes, they may start to rattle, vibrate, or clunk against the framing of your home.
This kind of noise is often more subtle than the explosive bang of water hammer, but it’s equally conceing. Loose pipes can eventually lead to damage from friction or even a small leak. The good news is that fixing loose pipes can sometimes be a simple DIY taskif you’re comfortable crawling in a basement or accessing an exposed section of pipe.
A hidden pipe replacement or widespread issue is best left to a professional plumber, however. In fact, it is always advisable to leave serious plumbing repair to trained and licensed professionals.
Have you ever heard a bubbling or gurgling sound coming from your drains. While clogs do cause this noise, trapped air in your plumbing can be another culprit behind those unexpected noises.
Air in the pipes might be the result of recent plumbing work, a leak that’s drawn in air, or even a minor blockage that’s causing the system to work unevenly. While this might sound less dramatic than a water hammer, it still suggests that your plumbing isn’t operating at its best.
You might enjoy a powerful shower or a strong flow of water at your sink, but excessively high water pressure can be a double-edged sword. When water pressure exceeds recommended levels (typically between 40 and 80 PSI), it forces water through your pipes at a high velocity, causes pipes to vibrate, and creates a persistent humming or whistling noise.
High water pressure not only produces annoying sounds but can also accelerate wear and tear on your plumbing system. Over time, high pressure can lead to leaks, burst pipes, and damage to your appliances.
